Christine Gherst is experienced in formulating, implementing, and managing strategic communications plans. At SCP, Chris provides support to clients including project management, website management, e-newsletter development, stakeholder research and analysis, dissemination planning, messaging, and event planning. She has helped develop dissemination plans for new models of care for older adults, and worked with foundations, nonprofits, and government agencies to develop both internal and external communications strategies and tactics.
Before joining SCP in January 2004, Chris served a variety of nonprofit organizations for 15 years, including as director of organizational advancement at PathWaysPA, a social service agency in the Philadelphia area, where she was involved in public relations and communications activities, resource development, and staff training. She was also responsible for the agency’s quality assurance initiatives, outcomes measurement, and accreditation by the Council on Accreditation.
Before receiving her degree in social work, Chris was communications coordinator for Soroptimist International, a nonprofit association of business and professional women.
Chris received a BA in English from Franklin and Marshall College and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. She enjoys hiking and kayaking, taking long walks the family dogs, and exploring northern Virginia with her husband and two daughters.
